Sunflowers Alite

I have read so many articles about treating your art as a business, some of them have been great, some not so great. What I do know from experience is that you have to do a heck of a lot more than just paint; although, if you don’t make time for that, you have no new products. So, it is very important to put aside some time each day or have a specific day or two set aside to paint.  Then there is the in between time,  you have to get your work out there for people to see. It truly is a numbers game. The more people I get my work in front of, the more people I am likely to find that like my particular type of work. I now have fifteen pieces at the Gallery at Discovery Gardens; that just about depletes my stock. What do I do now? Well I paint and I work on other avenues, one of which is the possibility of licensing my images, another is getting my images on products into gift shops. Well see how that works out. All of those avenues require time and effort. On top of getting this art business going I also have a full time job, necessary to pay the bills. So all my extra time goes to painting and working on the rest of the business side of my art. It is a long process. Obviously I love the painting part, the business part is just that, business, but necessary to make my art business successful. So once again, it’s back to work, trying to finish “Sunflowers Alite” for the New Vintage Art Show at the Lancaster Theater in Grapevine this weekend, Saturday, April 17 from 10:00am til 11:00pm.
